Frequently Asked Questions

All you need to know before booking your class with us!

Aerial Hoop

  • What’s involved and how long do they last?

Classes are 1 hour long. We start with a 10-12 minute warm up, 45 minutes on the hoop including strength training, moves and combinations. We spend 5 minutes at the end of class cooling down and stretching.

  • Do I need to be strong and flexible to start? What if I have no upper body strength?

Then this is exactly what you need! These classes are designed to improve and work on your fitness and strength, not to have it there in the first place. We are here to help you improve your strength and get you having fun whilst doing it!

  • Is there a weight limit?

Not at all, hoop is for all ages, shapes and sizes. As long as you are physically well to engage in exercise, the only limit will be your own determination.

  • What do I wear? Do I need to bring anything?

It is better to wear well fitted clothing. Cotton leggings are best as they will provide the protection your skin needs as well as some grip. You will need to ensure all jewellery is removed for class. We recommend not moisturising your hands for 24 hours before the class to ensure that you are able to grip on the hoop. We recommend you bring your own liquid chalk to help with grip on the hoop and your own exercise/yoga mat.

You will need to wear short shorts for the class and a sleeveless top, this ensure the maximum amount of body grip and therefore safety. You will need to ensure all jewellery is removed for class. Aerial Hammock

  • What’s involved and how long do they last?

Classes are all 1 hour long. For all adult hammock classes you will be in your own hammock for the entirety of the class. This includes a warming up flow for around 10 minutes.

In Aerial Yoga the class will follow a stretch and flow style, with some strengthening exercises all using the hammock. In this class you will be going upside down unless you have one of the contra-indications listed below. At the end of the class there will be a period where we have some time for guided relaxation or mindfulness whilst laying in the hammock.

In a standard Aerial Hammock class there are many of the same components however more time will be made for tricks and flips in the hammock.

  • Are there any prerequisites to attending Aerial Hammock based classes?

This class is suitable for all as long as you are physically well enough to partake in exercise. Because of the nature of the classes and being upside down holding positions for short periods, there are some contra-indications listed below, its very important you tell your instructor if any of these apply to you:

  2. Glaucoma
  3. Recent Surgery
